Lots of New Changes Coming to my Blog so Excuse the Mess

Article Menu

Hey everyone,

As you can probably see from the dates on my blog posts, 2015 has been too busy for me to blog, add articles or any new cool networks or ideas. Well, this is all about to change.

I am in the process of redesigning the website and there will be lots of changes to the way that the website looks and feels. My aim is to create a site that reflects the changes that have recently taken place in my life and in my career.

First, you should know that recently and over the past few months and years I have been pivoting from strictly HR related content and projects to larger social phenomenon that includes a list of some very interesting new technologies, and new ideas. More recently, I’ve even expanded my work with some  high-level governmental and global institutions in areas such as terrorism and national security using a lot of data analysis and simulation tools. I will be adding more details on this website about those projects in the next few weeks and months.

Also, I’ve also started to take classes on agent-based modeling and social simulation and potentially could be going all the way to writing a dissertation and earning a PhD. And, though I’m only at the beginning stages of this long and arduous process, the chances are I plan to be fully committed on combining social network analysis with agent-based modeling and using those technical skills to gain a fundamental understanding of the social world.

To me, people are the same whether they are at work, or at home, or performing the worst acts of horrors imaginable to humanity, so my focus will not strictly be HR, data, and people analytics but will encompass a variety of fields and subjects related to the analysis of how people behave and think. Hell, not even artificial intelligence will be out of reach of simulating my social world.

This means that I will begin to get back to my technical routes from engineering and physics and be a lot closer to the intersection of people, process, and technology than ever before. And yes, that means that you’ll be seeing a lot more blog posts about coding and software simulations then you have been used to in the past.

This is all very good news for the two or three people that actually read my blog (it’s a lot more than that but I wonder if I’d continue posting if it was…hmmm) because you’ll be seeing a very diverse set of very interesting content focused on the intersection between technical analysis and human behavior. I might even throw in some social complexity with a dash of anthropology here and there.

I write and post publicly here on my site because I enjoy it and I feel that those of us who study the social sciences should be sharing their knowledge more with the public and helping them be informed on what the latest trends are in human behavior. This stuff matters! And it could matter to a lot of people who have a lot of questions about their daily lives and routines. Mainly, that’s what I hope to accomplish – an opportunity to help others through sharing with them some interesting ideas and a lot of knowledge.

I hope to be able to continue to do this in the near future. In the meantime the website will be going through cycles of improvements so please excuse the mess while I’m working on improving it and making it work better for my future plans.

As always if you have any questions or comments, or even words of encouragement feel free to use the contact form and shoot me a message. I am generally very approachable.

Joe
I quantify the Human Element with Networks and Math….and pretty soon..with social simulations..
